DREW FARM WELCOMES THE FALL SEASON

The fall season official starts Thursday, September 22, and Drew Farm is ready with great activities in store for you!  This weekend we will have great apple picking, pumpkin picking from our pumpkin patch, free tractor rides to and from the orchard and pumpkin patch, live music in the orchard on Sunday (Lukies Fortune), a roaring fire pit to roast your own s'mores, and a beautiful picnic area to share a lunch with your family and friends.  Drew Farm offers traditional-style New England apple picking experience, meaning our orchards are open to you to wander and enjoy- no rush, no herding!  Our retail area is stocked full of hardy mums of all colors and sizes and plenty of fresh picked apples for quick sale (this weekend we will have McIntosh, Cortland and Honey Crisp). No apple picking event is complete without fresh apple cider donuts, fresh pressed ice-cold apple cider and water. We hope you can come and enjoy a special day with us; you won't be disappointed!

SEPTEMBER 17-18: Perfect Weekend for Picking Apples

The weekends seem to come around fast in the fall but we are ready for you and  your family to come to our hillside orchard for some traditional New England apple picking.  This weekend we will be picking McIntosh and Cortland. In the orchard, our picnic area has tables for your picnic and a fire to roast your own s'mores (we provide this fixings). We pride ourselves in having a beautiful setting so that you can relax and enjoy your time with your family and friends, take some photos, all while enjoying  the music of Paducks (Saturday) and Lukies Fortune (Sunday).  Hope you can come and enjoy!

Our retail area is stocked full of hardy mums of all sizes and colors, pumpkin, and apples that are all packed for quick sale.  We will also have fresh cider donuts on Saturday and Sunday, while they last!

Our prices for pick-your-own are: $26 for a half bushel (~20 pounds); $15 for peck (~10 pounds) or 2 pecks for $26; and $8 for a half peck (~5 pounds).

OPENING WEEKEND!

We have a great weekend planned for you and your family here at Drew Farm!  We expect the weather to be a little on the warm side but not too warm to enjoy some great outdoor apple picking.  We will be picking McIntosh and Cortland for the next week or so before we open up for other varieties.  Don't worry about the draught - We have plenty of apples!  They may be a bit on the smaller size but that means there is more flavor packed into each apple!  

The tractor will be running to bring you, your family and your picnic up into the untapped orchard. Our retail area will have apples packed for you for quick purchase.  We will also have fresh cider donuts, Drew Farm Root Beer, fresh apple cider and, weather permitting, roast-your-own s'mores at a our orchard-side fire pit.  On Sunday afternoon, enjoy your picnic to the music of Lukies Fortune!  Hope you can join us!

Labor Day Weekend marks the end of summer and the transition to APPLE PICKING SEASON!

Fall always seems to take us by surprise and this year it seems especially so, having had such a hot and dry summer that doesn't want to quit.  Nevertheless, here we are: DREW FARM OPENS NEXT SATURDAY, September 10th!  

We are happy to report that we have plenty of tasty apples to pick and will focus on McIntosh and Cortland for the first couple of weeks.  As always, we provide free tractor rides into and out of the orchard, and you can take your time to enjoy a peaceful picnic in our beautiful New England setting.  Opening weekend will also feature: cider donuts, apple cider, Drew Farm root beer, and s'more roasting.  Parking is free and there is no admission fee.

Our orchard is perched on a hillside with spectacular views of the fall foliage across the Merrimack Valley.  If you've been here you know. APPLE PICKING SEASON IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER! IT'S TIME TO START PLANNING YOUR FALL OUTING!

Drew Farm will open for apple picking on September 10th!  We are SO excited to see you all come out and enjoy a wonderful New England tradition of apple picking and picnicking.  Our orchard is BEAUTIFULLY situated on a hill that provides spectacular fall foliage views.  At Drew Farm, you are welcome to bring your well-behaved, friendly dog and roam around at your own pace to pick your apples.  

We have picnic tables available on a first come, first served basis in our picnic area or you can bring your favorite blanket and find your perfect picnic spot.  We plan to have live folk music each weekend day  in our picnic area and are planning our 2nd annual AppleFest on October 8th when we will be groovin to Dave Gerard and the Truffle (www.gerardtruffle.com) and eating orchard-side, oven fresh pizza!

In the meantime…. We are stocked full of beautiful summer hangers, annuals and perennials.  The prices are great and the plants are the healthiest around. The greenhouse is open Thursday-Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.

Mother's Day Weekend 2016! Bring on some spring color….

It has certainly been an odd winter/spring but Drew Farm is ready to start our 2016 season.  The apple trees are pruned, the brush is chipped, the bees are in the orchard, and the apple blossoms are about ready to pop open (if only for a little sun and warmth!).

Most importantly this weekend: our greenhouse is full of beautiful flowering plants for Mother's day!  Choose from hanging geraniums, million bells, fuchsia, mixed hangers, and more.  We also have begun stocking up on 4" pots and handle baskets to make your own stunning mixed pots and window boxes.  

We truly have the best, healthiest plants at the best prices. Come and see for yourself.

Clearing land for an expansion of our apple orchard in 2017!

We have begun clearing an abandon block of apple trees to prepare to plant new trees in 2017.  We are planning to grow 3 new varieties in this block: Honey Crisp, Braeburn, and Gala. We'll update on our progress periodically!

End of Season Pumpkin Walk

We want to thank all of our carvers and goblins for creating a great display of jack-o-lanterns. We also want to thank all of our customers who came out to enjoy the evening.

Drew Farm AppleFest - October 24th and 25th!

This weekend Drew Farm invites you to come out and enjoy the spirit of the fall season in our beautiful orchard to pick apples and pumpkins, and listen to live free music while you enjoy a freshly made picnic lunch and roast s'mores by our apple-wood, orchard side fire!  The price of admission is simply purchasing apples or pumpkins. 

The weather looks perfect - Indian Summer on Saturday - so take advantage and bring your family and friends out for wonderful fall day. Our orchard is peaceful (!) and scenic, with gorgeous views of the foliage. Our visitors are always free to wander the orchard at their own pace and enjoy the experience of apple picking in the traditional New England style. Here's what we have to offer:

 

APPLES: Now's the perfect time and we still have plenty of fresh crisp apples low on the trees for easy picking! McIntosh (look for apples that still have a bit of a green background), Cortland (excellent), Macoun (excellent), Empire (peak!), Golden Delicious (nearing perfect) and Red Delicious (just getting started). 

PUMPKINS:  WE HAVE TONS! Drew Farm professes to be the pumpkin capital of Massachusetts. We have pumpkins of all sizes and shapes. When you purchase your pumpkin(s) from us you are supporting our annual pumpkin light Halloween night (more details to come; keep an eye on our Facebook page as time nears for all the details (https://www.facebook.com/DrewFarm?sk=wall_). It is a free event that is out of this world! 

MUSIC: Saturday we welcome back Mike and Ted; Sunday we welcome back Kevin and Paul. Both days will feature all your favorite light rock and folk music. The musicians are nestled in our picnic area and provide light entertainment while you enjoy your outing. We have plenty of picnic tables available on a first come first served basis. You are always welcome to bring your favorite picnic blanket if you prefer. 

FOOD: It's your choice. You can bring your own picnic or you can purchase fresh hot BBQ from FireBox BBQ. They will be in the orchard with your favorite BBQ snacks from 11 am to 3 pm.  Come on out and support them!  We also offer s'mores kits (we supply all that you need) to roast an all time favorite. The kids (and adults) love it!

This will be a great weekend to bring the family to Drew Farm! We have plenty of apples for picking, with most at or even still nearing their peak in flavor and crispness: McIntosh (look for apples that still have a bit of a green background), Cortland (excellent), Macoun (excellent), Empire (peak!), Golden Delicious (nearing perfect) and Red Delicious (just getting started).  

In the orchard on Saturday, our picnic area will feature Kevin and Paul, who will be playing all of your favorites while you enjoy your picnic outing.  On Sunday, we welcome for the first time Mike and Ted in the picnic area, who will entertain you with light music while you enjoy your picnic . Our apple wood fire will be burning though out the weekend to warm you up and to roast your own s'mores. We do not have anyone scheduled to provide lunch so don't forget to pack your picnic.

Columbus Day Weekend at Drew Farm

It's hard to believe but its already Columbus Day weekend!  Traditionally, this is the most popular time to go apple picking. The fall foliage has begun, the air is cool, and the apples are at their peak!  If you like to be outdoors in a beautiful setting where you are free to roam on your own to pick your apples, have a nice peaceful picnic in our beautiful picnic area, and enjoy traditional New England style apple picking, you will love Drew Farm.

Our tractors will be running all weekend to bring you into and out of the orchard and pumpkin patch (yes, we have a pumpkin patch!). We will be picking McIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Macoun, and Golden Delicious; all of our varieties are from traditional rootstock and are the best around!

On Saturday, we will be welcoming back "Chicken on the Road" to provide a great lunch for your picnic! Chicken on the Road will be in our picnic area from 10:30 am 'till 2:00 pm and will offer some of your favorite chicken treats, including chicken bites with your choice of dipping sauce, chicken cutlet subs and club sandwiches, and cranberry walnut chicken salad wrap.  On Sunday, we will be welcoming "Meanie Panini" who will be in the orchard picnic area all day serving up fresh hot grilled sandwiches for your picnic. Keep your eye on our Facebook page for specific details.  Apple pick-n-picnic has never tasted this good!

The Blue Minor guitarists will also be in the orchard on Saturday and Sunday to entertain you. Kevin and Chris are great and love to play all your favorites!

Welcome October!

It's Thursday and that means its time to start finalizing your weekend activities!  The weekend weather forecast has gone from 'not good' to 'not bad'! Currently, forecasters are calling for "a few spotty showers" but that shouldn't interfere with apple picking for us hardy New Englanders.  We will be picking McIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Macoun, and Golden Delicious.  Our pumpkin patch is open to roam and choose the perfect pumpkin!  As always, we will have tractor rides to and from the orchard and pumpkin patch, and orchard-side fire roasted s'mores (weather permitting).

Drew Farm Pick and Picnic this Weekend!

This coming weekend, the 26th and 27th, promises to be perfect for your fall apple picking outing.  The weather has finally turned and we are looking at sunshine and temperatures in the 60's. Drew Farm has a lot going on this weekend: picking, tractor rides, picnicking, and live music in the orchard (on Saturday). Hope you can come out and enjoy!

This weekend we will be picking McIntosh, Corland, Empire, and Macoun; all are at or close to their peak in crispness and flavor. For the picnicking side of your outing, Drew Farm welcomes "Chicken on the Road"! They will be serving up some of their famous chicken treats: chicken bites with your choice of dipping sauce, chicken cutlet subs and club sandwiches, and cranberry walnut chicken salad wrap.  They will be in our orchard picnic area on Saturday between 10:30-2.  You are welcome to use our picnic tables and enjoy your outing with family and friends in a beautiful orchard setting.

You are welcome to roast your own s'mores in our orchard side, apple wood fire. We provide the roasting sticks and a s'mores kit that will make 2 s'mores.  Our retail area offers a great supply of hardy mums of all colors and sizes, as well as pumpkins and gourds for your fall home decorating.  Apple cider donuts will be available on Saturday and Sunday (while they last!).  We carry ice cold fresh apple cider, Drew Farm root beer and plenty of water.   

Drew Farm weekend of September 19-20th SHOULD BE GREAT!

We are expecting a family-fun weekend at Drew Farm of picking and picnicking.  Apple picking will be great, featuring McIntosh, Cortland and Empire. The McIntosh are peak right now and the Cortland are nearing peak but perfect for your first apple pie of the season. It's still a bit early for Empire, but they are already very flavorful and ready for picking.  Our trees are full of apples, so there's plenty to chose from!

Enjoy our orchard-side picnic venue where you are free to relax and spend some quality time with family and friends. We are expecting guitar music by the Blue Minors in the picnic area to provide light entertainment for your picnic. We will also light up our fire pit this weekend so you can roast orchard-side s'mores.  Free trailer rides will take you to and from the orchard.  As always you are free to take your time, roam the orchard and enjoy the beauty of the fall season.  Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.

An Apple Blossom Encore - Golden Delicious

We are coming to the end of the apple blossoms but its been a great week. Here are some pictures of our latest bloomers--the golden delicious.

We are fully stocked for Mother's Day with spectacular hangers: impatient, geraniums, fuchsia, million bells , new guinea impatients, and more! We also have a wide variety of potted plants for your window boxes and planters. If you can't decide, give your mom a Drew Farm Gift Certificate and she can come and browse our selection and choose the perfect plants for her.  We are open this weekend from 10 am to 5 pm.  We hope to see you-the weather is going to be perfect.
